A quiet, secure place for volunteers, students, other guests and backpackers, the hostel and guest house contains 1 dorm, currently with space for 6 people, and three private rooms with double (king size) beds. All beds have well fitted mosquito nets and clean sheets, blankets and towels.
Guests can make use of the five bathrooms with hot water showers and toilets. We have a spacious living room with a dining area. The sitting has a home bar, that can provide you with drinks at a modest cost. We have a home library that provides our guests with basic information about the local people and language. Each guest is in addition, entitled to a map of Kisumu that guides them through their stay. Guests can cook in our spacious kitchen or enjoy food ordered from our menu of both traditional African food and other foreign foodstuffs; members are always free to prepare their foods and share jointly as one global family.
The rooms have bedside cabinets for safe keeping of the personal effects and ward robes to keep the clothes. A reading table and chair is provided for in each of the rooms hence providing a quiet environment for studies. Kisumu being relatively hot, the spacious compound with a canopy of trees provide good shades for outdoor meditation and a cool breeze in the evenings as guests watch the sun set.
As your hosts, we will be home most of the time, and are always happy to provide information about Kisumu and its environs; the documentaries, newsletters and tour magazines will be readily available to complement this information.
The hostel is situated in a guarded compound. The compound is well-fenced, with ambient space for parking. For those who like keeping fit, we have a provision for games such as table tennis, darts, chess etc; the area is also safe for those who would wish to accompany Chris for early morning jogging. Lillian will link you up to Zumba, yoga and gym sessions, all these at discounted prices
The hostel is situated just about 15 minutes walk to town; alternatively, you can use one of our bicycles, request for a motorbike, tuktuk or car taxi, from the pool of safe and cautious service providers at negotiated prices. We are a few meters away from Mega City shopping mall, that houses the largest supermarket in Kisumu.
